Little Flower Loves to Read

Our very own Little Flower made local news once again. Because of donors like you, the Jubilee schools continue to serve the children of Memphis and empower them with a love of reading.

"More than 100,000 people in Memphis are not functionally literate. That's according to the National Institute for Literacy. Several organizations in Memphis are trying to change that.

Greater Memphis Media partnered with Saint Therese Little Flower Primary School Thursday to celebrate Black History Month with the I Love Reading initiative.

Organizers say the initiative is intended to spark an interest and a love of reading early that will follow the students throughout their lives.

“Many of these little ones are Jubilee scholarship recipients, which means they come from underserved backgrounds and they don't have the opportunity to have books in homes and go to the library,” says Brian Clay of Greater Memphis Media.

Greater Memphis Media also commissioned the book "Chocolate Me" in honor of Black History Month." article, pictures and video are courtesy of Local Memphis 24
